Averde Healthsm Reaches The 100,000-Member Milestone

Averde Health's revolutionary health care financing model, started just two years ago with an idea and a Powerpoint presentation, has begun improving how health care is paid for.

West Hartford, CT (PRWEB) November 30, 2009 -- Averde Health, a pioneer with a revolutionary health care model, announces that they have reached 100,000 member commitments for 2010. Over the course of the year, patients enrolled in the Averde network will be able to use a growing number of physicians and hospitals in several states including Colorado, Texas, Florida and Virginia. "Physician recruiting is in full swing", said Averde's CEO Tom Policelli. "Our value proposition has been really resonating with doctors and hospitals and our networks are delivering terrific value to our customers. We are also pleased to see that employers are finding our product to be very compelling."

Averde's network product is available to individuals and employers that offer high deductible plans to their employees. High deductible plans are increasingly used by employers to offset the high cost of medical benefits. In fact, according to a 2009 Kaiser Family Foundation survey, 22% of employers offer deductibles of $1000 or higher - up from 10% in 2006. That same survey indicates that the opportunity for Averde is expanding as 40% of small employers offer high deductible plans vs. 16% in 2006.

To capitalize on this trend, Averde establishes their innovative model in states where deductibles are among the highest in the country. "We target markets where the financial pain from high deductible plans is felt the most. That's where our model has the biggest impact," Policelli said. Beyond the four states mentioned above, Averde has announced that network development has also begun in Missouri, North and South Carolina and Georgia. Averde expects to be in 20 markets in the next 18 months.

In Averde's model, doctors and hospitals are paid both patient and plan portions of the claim without having to chase the provider or the patient for deductibles or coinsurance. In addition, Averde members get peace of mind that they can seek medical care knowing they have a strong financial safety net and do not have to come up with large deductibles at the point of service. Averde also reduces the confusing blizzard of paperwork that comes with these types of plans as doctors, payors and consumers sort out who owes what to whom. "This drives even more costs out of the system and allows us to deliver a superior product at a price that employers and consumers clearly find compelling," adds Policelli. "Averde's value proposition is as direct as our tag line: Simplicity, Security, Savingssm".

About Averde Health - Averde Health was founded by visionary health insurance executives who recognized the need for a better health care model that puts them in partnership with doctors and hospitals, while allowing patients a simple way to manage their health care expenses. By solving problems for health care providers, Averde drives administrative costs out of the system, and helps hold down costs for employers and consumers.
